About WILD EYE

BAE79369-AC1B-4A35-B083-3DF46A70977D_1_2

Wild Eye (formerly Miller Garden Design) was established by Luke Miller, a free-range child of the 80s, who fell in love with nature while wandering the woods behind his family home in Southwest Pennsylvania. There, joy revealed itself in the discovery of Mayapples or an ephemeral Trillium nestled in the roots of an Ash. After studying dance on scholarship at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, he embarked on an award-winning performance career and brings that artistic passion and rigor to every project. When Luke discovered the therapeutic benefits of gardening on a Brooklyn rooftop, he quickly began absorbing as much plant knowledge as possiblE which led him to become a certified Horticulturist (Brooklyn Botanic Garden) and, in turn, a  certified Landscape Designer (New York Botanical Garden). The mysterious attraction of a woodland edge pulls him into every project - small, large, urban, or upstate.

Plant Sourcing & Installation

We source plants from reputable and environmentally responsible nurseries throughout the tri-state area. Luke has been developing relationships with some wonderful organic growers who truly love their plants. Having access to high-quality plant material is crucial to establishing a vibrant and lasting greenspace.

Maintenance

Wild Eye uses an organic approach to good gardening by keeping toxins out of your spaces at all costs. The health of your family, pets, and plants is extremely important to us. By implementing an Integrative Pest Management (IPM) system to tackle problem insects and pathogens, you can rest easy knowing that your garden is as healthy as it is verdant.

First and foremost, our gardens are designed to bring PEOPLE closer to nature by greenifying outdoor spaces with a sense of PLACE. Every garden has its own story waiting to be told, and by introducing clients to the profound joy of fauna-attracting flora, our gardens provide year-round interest where the PLANTS are not only beautiful but serve an important ecological purpose. Before Wild Eye chooses the right plant for the right place, your garden needs GOOD BONES. Whether that is achieved through hardscaping or architectural plants, each design begins with STRUCTURE. clearly defined planting areas supply the perfect counterpoint for our relaxed planting palettes that spill into and fill a space. Our commitment to incorporating natives into every garden and choosing plants that directly benefit our environment lends a NATURALISTIC edge to every design.

"I had the good fortune of working with Luke to re-design my front yard.  It was such a joy collaborating from beginning to end.  My front yard is now a space that I thoroughly enjoy looking at through my front window and relaxing in with a good book.  Luke made sure the the design was completely in line with my city’s codes - using only plants with low water needs so that I qualified for a significant rebate.  My garden smells amazing and attracts so many hummingbirds!"
